"Careful, casual, clinging, and holding fast"

HEY Y'all.

We have several new people to teach this week! And they're all from Africa somehow...but they don't know each other lol.

Daniel was someone we were able to start teaching! He's so so cool. He recently moved to Odessa and was meeting with sister missionaries before he left. Of course, they lost contact. But we were on the UTPB campus and he approached US. that never happens lol. He told us he would love to start meeting with sisters again and I'm sure he will be getting baptized very soon!

We also had zone conference which always pumps me up. I got to see a lot of old pals too.
But yeah, the miracles never cease.

Okay one of my favorite talks from conference has been on my mind a tooon this week. It's Careful vs. Casual by Becky Craven. She talks about how true happiness comes from living the gospel and striving to become like Jesus Christ.
All of us committed to the covenant path when we were baptized, and we cannot be casual about living our covenants. She also talks about the tree of life, which was where I happened to be in my scripture study this week. Something stuck out to me that never has before, and I thought it was super cool even though everyone has probably noticed this but me lol. But in 1 Nephi 11, Nephi talks about the people coming unto the tree of life.  He discusses people who wander off, people in the great and spacious building, people going to the filthy river etc. But he also of course talks about those who are clinging to the rod and those holding fast unto it. K this is what i never realized: the people clinging to the rod partook of the fruit but eventually fell away because they cared about what the world thought. The people who held fast to the rod partook of the fruit and never fell away.
So, Sister Craven asks the question: are you being careful or casual in your covenants and your commitment to the Savior?  In the addition I would add, are you clinging to the rod or holding fast unto it?

Love y'all.
Sister MacLay

P.s. note the texas flag being flown above the American flag lol. Not uncommon at all.
