Hey all y'all
Friday we went to Brother David Aguirre's house because he was finally going to let us serve him and clean it a little! But there was hardly anything to do besides sweep. He doesn't really have any "stuff" and the only furniture he has is a plastic chair and table and a really sad mattress with no sheets and a worn blanket. We made a list of all the stuff that he needed. When we were leaving after cleaning, he gave us a card with a gift certificate for a Mexican food place. He definitely could not afford that and probably had to sacrifice so much to give that to us. We then took our list to Walmart and got him food, cleaning supplies, sheets, a new pillow, cat food, and other household stuff he really needed. We also got stuff for Sister Angie. We were fixin to go drop it off anonymously at Angie's but were caught by her son and his girlfriend (who steal and use all of Angie's stuff because they are in their 40s with no jobs and addicted to dope). We hoped we wouldn't get caught at David's but...we did. He always keeps his doors open since he doesn't have AC or heat. He was sitting but his front door so we decided to park around back and drop it off on his back door. We knocked and left the stuff and hid, but his neighbors dog gave us away. We were running all around the government housing complex trying to hide but my companions are not sneaky at all and he saw them lol. It was so funny though and we were laughing so hard.

Saturday we went to Menard and visited Joe B. And Bud Tipton and all their goats. We also went and saw an inactive family, the Hultgrens. We hadn't met them yet, and apparently the last time a branch member went over there (Sister Williams, 83, sweetest lady ever) he basically said that next time a branch member came over he would have his gun. Soooo we prayed for safety before going. Haha. We met his daughter first who was about 10 and so sweet and loved talking to us. She later went and got her dad who opened the door, looked at us, and said "NUH UH" and slammed the door haha. So it went pretty well.
I'm so excited for next fast Sunday! Missions from all across North America are going to be fasting and praying for missionary work! The entire stake I'm serving in will be too, so I'm sure there will be SO MANY people fasting for it across North America and I'm stoked.
A scripture that I really loved from my book of Mormon study this week is Jacob 2:8 "...they have come up hither to hear the pleasing word of God, yea, the word which health the wounded soul." I know I'm definitely a wounded soul and that's why I need the word of God daily. But there are so many people around us who are wounded as well and don't know where to find healing. But we do! And we can help them discover the healing power of Jesus Christ.
Have a good week y'all!
With all my love from the
of Texas,
Sister MacLay
