Sorry my email didn't go through last week! Here it is!
It's been raining almost all week! Brady hasn't seen this much rain like ever. The Brady lake is full for the first time in 30 years! A member of our branch, Wimpy, sent us a video of the lake with the caption "Satan needs a drink" haha. When the lake is full or overflowing the extra water goes down this hole overflow thing. I'll attach the video. If you listen to it, you can hear him say "there's a hole in the lake!" haha.
Soooo this week we had a lesson with Adler. My companions taught him while I trimmed his hair haha. He mentioned a few days earlier how he needed a haircut but had no money so I said I would do it. Haha. My first boy haircut! He was scared out of his mind the whole time...he loves his hair. But it also for him to sit still and listen to the lesson! He gave me a bag of candy as payment and said he only laced one of them with cyanide...lol.
We also got to teach Raylah, the cute little 9 year old girl, again. See pic below of her and her friend Addie! Raylah wants to be a "church person" for Halloween. Haha.
Update on the little girl who tried to commit suicide: she is home from the state hospital now! They are in a new better and safer home. Thanks for all your prayers!
Some little Sister Lloyd moments from this week: she thought poem was spelled "pown" and quinoa was pronounced "kwi-nona." she keeps life interesting haha. Being in a trio is a whole new experience! And so is trio training! Both of my companions are amazing and I am so grateful for them!
Something I'm super grateful for this week is the priesthood! On Wednesday, we were invited to go to a Bible study. At the beginning, we took communion (sacrament). Let me lay the scene for you: about 10 girls are sitting at a kitchen table. They pass out cran-grape juice (that cran-man is at it again) in Dixie cups with Laffy-taffy type jokes on them. Then they pass out little crackers. They open to their modernized version of the Bible and one of the girls, a 20 year old pregnant woman, reads the sacrament scriptures. Then we eat and drink. For them, they were following and remembering Christ the best way they knew how. But for us as members of Christ's Church, the sacrament is much more meaningful. We are able to have the priesthood to bless the sacrament and renew our covenants we have made with God. And not our baptismal covenants only, but all covenants we have made with God!
I was also able to receive a priesthood blessing this week of comfort and council. Heavenly father told me exactly everything I needed to hear. I know that "priesthood ordinances and covenants provide access to the fullness of the blessings promised to us by God, which are made possible by the Savior’s Atonement. They arm sons and daughters of God with power, God’s power, and provide us with the opportunity to receive eternal life—to return to God’s presence and live with Him in His eternal family" -Carole M. Stephen's.
I hope you can all find ways to utilize and deeper appreciate the priesthood in your lives!
Have a good week!
With all my love from the
️ of Texas,
Sister MacLay
