Hey y'all!
Another great week here in the heart of Texas!
Sister Lloyd and I are pretty much completely over our sickness as of today! Finally.
Soooo this week we had went to a nursing home and painted nails. I LOVE the residents there. And just old people in general. There was this bed-ridden man named Hise who was the biggest flirt lol. He kept kissing me and sister Lloyd's hands and hitting on us lol.
We got to go on exchanges with our Sister Training Leaders Thursday-Friday in San Angelo. It was great! It was weird being a missionary in a bigger city. There were actual stores and way more people to contact lol. But Sister Lloyd and I missed each other. Haha. We get along really well and laugh a lot.
Once we got back in town, that night two returning less actives in our branch got married by our branch president, President Cooper. I got to dance with Bert (the moon man) and we told him that he and I got married lol. He forgot 5 seconds later. I got to dance with him though. Sister Lloyd caught a vid I'll try to send.
Our stake president came and visited our branch yesterday. He pulled us aside and was asking us how we honestly liked Brady. We truthfully told him we loved it here as he was going on with how terrible, boring, and small it is here lol. He told us his granddaughter was serving in our mission and this is the last place he would ever want her to go. We were kind of taken aback by all of it. It goes to show that it's all about perspective! We came in excited to get to know the area, and I love being in small towns. The branch here is amazing. It is hanging on by a thread though. The few members that the branch has are so faithful and Christ-like. I'm so grateful to be serving here! There is no place I'd rather be (:
Right now, my mission is doing a Book of Mormon Atonement challenge. I was reading in 2 Nephi 2 and I feel like I am finally starting to scratch the surface with understanding grace. Grace is a huge thing here in the Bible Belt, but we as a church look at it a little differently than other Christian faiths. I was able to learn about how, yes, we are saved by grace, but it's after all we can do. Every person will receive an immortal body from our Savior's sacrifice. However, not every person will be worthy to dwell with God. Through the grace of Christ that we receive daily strength to live His gospel. It is the enabling power that allows us to have eternal life after we have given our best efforts! We all need to rely on His grace as we are exercising faith in Him and His Atonement.
Love you all dearly.
Sister MacLay
