Hey y'all!
Another great week in the heart of Texas!
To start out, we had zone conference on Tuesday! It was up in Abilene (like 2 hours away). It was so awesome being able to hear from our leaders. The mission president's wife spoke on hope, which is the Christ-like attribute I'm working on this transfer. She talked about how hope is an expectation of things to come and how it's necessary for building faith. It's pressing forward when the adversary is pushing so hard against you. We go to our Savior for hope.
We went to Panda Express when we were in Abilene and it was glorious. Much better than ramen.
Wednesday and Thursday we had bike days and ooo mama was it hot and humid. But we always see so many miracles happen on bike days (:
On one of our bike days Sister Lloyd took the keys and she usually never has them because I always drive. Right after I locked the door I was like "you got the keys right?" and she just started laughing. She left our keys and our phone in the apartment. So we tried in vain to break in with a credit card. So we went and knocked on our neighbors door. Well, a bunch of neighbors were at his house because they were partying. One answered the door and said he'd help us. He went and got a card and as he was going to break us in, he said "Sister. Hold my beer." and handed me his beer lol. After he broke us in we talked to him for awhile. Sister Lloyd asked him what he would ask Jesus if he were here right now and he said "I'd say, you want a beer?" he then proceeded to tell us how Jesus enjoys beer and a bunch of other nonsense. He was very entertaining haha.
We got to volunteer at the nursing home again! This time we did bingo. There's this lady named Hazel Grace who just turned 108 years old! She is the cutest. She had her birthday party a couple of weeks ago. They hired musicians and had a huge celebration for her. When 3pm came around though, she left her own party and said it was time for bingo haha. She just scooted herself on out in her wheelchair. She's the best. Oldest person in the county! A true legend.
Friday we got to volunteer at the first Baptist church's food pantry! It went so great! They are probably the most prominent church (out of the Book 30 or so) here in Brady. We got to work with some awesome people and tell them more about what we do. They love us and were so grateful for our help! For some reason, every restaurant in town serves Catfish on Fridays. Our Baptist friends found out we hadn't had Catfish so they took us to lunch at this literal hole in the wall. I'm so grateful for the people we got to meet through service and the kindness they showed us! We aren't used to be fed by other people so it was aweaome.
Yesterday we were able to speak at the Resurrection church's youth night! It was a really cool experience. There was one other speaker and I could feel the spirit so strong. But, the spirit kept manifesting to me how we have the FULNESS of the gospel. We spoke on weaknesses and how the Lord, through his atonement, makes us strong. It went pretty well, but the spirit really came strongly at the end as each of us bore our testimonies. I bore my testimony on how much I live my Savior, my brother, and my friend. How he has helped me and saved me through the Atonement. I started crying lol. There was like 45+ people there. It was such a privilege to speak to all of them!
Thank y'all for your love and support!
Xoxo
Sister MacLay
