mosque + black gold + miracles

This week we started teaching a guy named Ignacio! He's the boyfriend of a member. We taught him the restoration and it was so awesome! There is no more effective way to do missionary work than through the members!

Next week we are doing a special sacrament I am so excited for. The branch has a real problem with the YSA in the stake just...not coming.... so I've been working with the stake president and he's personally inviting all the YSA who don't come normally. We're focusing the talks on the Savior and His Atonement; the stake president, a member, and myself are all giving talks, and then we're having 2 musical numbers! Yesterday before sacrament I got up and got to invite all of the branch members to invite someone to come with them next week! It's gonne be bomb!.....which reminds me of something embarrassing I did this week. There's this polynesian member who's 18 or 19 named Jay Jay (recently baptized) that had his hair in a bun and I tried to say, "your bun looks bomb!" But instead I said, "your bum looks bomb!" I'm the worst.

We had some super cool miracles this last week. One was at district council. Our district leader instructed on using the Book of Mormon and for our role play, we wrote our testimonies in it and then went outside and had 10 minutes to give it out to someone. I had a prompting we should go knock on this one lady's house who we have talked to before. She didn't answer, but then 2 YSA guys walked by with their dogs and we got to talk to them and give one a book of mormon. We then talked to 2 more people who weren't interested, but that led to perfect timing for us being able to meet a guy named Johnstone! He had actually met with missionaries before...had them over to eat and everything. We got to meet up with him later that day for a lesson, and now we're hooking him up with the missionaries in Hobbs because he was just here for the day..."for fun"....(it was to meet us). His friend also walked up and she was someone I had just a friendly conversation with in the past...I got to share my testimony with her and we gave her a book of mormon as well! God has such divine timing! We then sprinted back to district council because we went over our 10 minutes lol.

We also went to a Mosque with our friend Mohammed! It was...interesting to say the least. THE CHURCH IS TRUE. I'm grateful for my knowledge and testimony of Jesus Christ. We were able to have a lesson and teach Mohammed about Jesus Christ. Pretty much everyone I've met on my mission has had some kind of foundation with Christ...cuz you know, I'm in the buckle of the bible belt. So I'm finding out how different it is to teach someone whose church adamantly teaches that Jesus Christ was not the son of God, just a prophet, and Mohammed was the last prophet.

Each week we have been doing basketball and sand volleyball and this week we had 20 YSA nonmembers come to basketball alone!! It was awesome. All the Elders play and I walk around and talk to everyone not playing Haha.

Soooo that's mostly it. Here's a bomb quote by Elder Scott I loved:
“The Lord is intent on your personal growth and development. That progress is accelerated when you willingly allow Him to lead you through every growth experience you encounter, whether initially it be to your individual liking or not. When you trust in the Lord, when you are willing to let your heart and your mind be centered in His will, when you ask to be led by the Spirit to do His will, you are assured of the greatest happiness along the way and the most fulfilling attainment from this mortal experience. If you question everything you are asked to do, or dig in your heels at every unpleasant challenge, you make it harder for the Lord to bless you [see 1 Nephi 3:7]”

Love y'all
