"If you're going to be a scrub, be the best little scrub." - Bro Loveless

'twas a good week! it's been raining, so naturally it was good.
we went on exchanges in San Angelo which was fun! i got to go the faux ASU (Angelo State University) and contact people! they have a tiny little freedom of speech square. we split up and talked to a bunch of students and it went super great! Later, we got to teach the restoration to a guy named Matt. He is so so cool. His dad was in jail his whole life and his mom wasn't a good person. He and his siblings ran away when he was 14 and he ended up in juvenile prison. He had an experience there that made him want to change. Fast forward many years later, a couple of weeks ago, he just decided he needed to start going to a church. He remembered friends who had been an example to him who were LDS, and so he just showed up one Sunday. And so naturally, we taught him the restoration. It was one of my absolute favorite lessons I've had. He is so prepared! When I asked him if he would be baptized, he was legit glowing as he said yes. I'm SO BUMMED he's not actually in my area so I won't be able to teach him or anything. But man, the gospel has such power to change lives and bring happiness!

Tuesday was a ruff day for me. We went over to a less actives house and saw her 10 year old daughter whom we visit frequently. She and her 2 year old brother were home alone. he was running around naked, and covered from head to toe in dirt and food and poop and who knows what else. We went in their house for the first time and my heart shattered. It was just filled with trash and old food. There was even the 2 year old's poop on the ground because he was naked and didn't have a diaper. We started reading scriptures with his sister while he was entertaining himself and finding old bags of Burger King to eat. We were reading the Book of Mormon and I couldnt help but cry for these precious little children. They deserve so much more than to grow up in a house where they are neglected and drugs are used. And we can't do anything about their situation; we can only love them (and maybe bring baby wipes next time to give the little boy a “bath”).

We went to the nursing home (of course), and did bingo. Some of those old ladies can be saassssy. After, we stayed for Kareoke and it was amazing haha. Sister Lloyd and I sang My Girl and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun for all our elderly friends haha.

Last night we were driving home for dinner when we saw this lady trying to load a desk into her car. We flipped a U and asked her if she needed help. She said no and that her boyfriend was coming. But I hopped out anyways and we helped her load it. Lol. She (Brittany) asked us what church we were from and said her and her daughter were looking for a church to attend! She said she would love to have us over to teach them about the Gospel! She is so eager to learn more! We gave her a restoration pamphlet and a Book of Mormon and taught her some restores truths. It just goes to show that Heavenly Father puts us in the exact place at the exact time to meet certain people. He gives us all these experiences, but it is up to us and our agency to act! If we hadn't flipped that car around and insisted on helping her, then we would have never had the opportunity to share the gospel with her. Heavenly Father is so aware of each of us. He led us to that street we normally don't drive down at the exact time we would see her bringing a desk outside. He loves each of his children so much! He loves you! And so do I!
