Hey y'all.
Another amazing week here in childress! i am so so blessed and lucky to be here!
okay so apparently warren jeffs is at the prison here?? one of my investigators is a guard in the prison and asked us about him because i guess he or his brother is there? she says that he has a tooon of family visit him everyday. Even his 13 year old wives. yikes.
Anywho, we have 2 baptisms coming up this weekend! i'm so stoked!!
I asked a few more people to be baptized this week. one couple I asked while they were smoking haha. EVERYONE smokes here!!! its wild. they haven't gotten the memo that cigarettes are bad.
I also taught the Word of Wisdom to one of our solid investigators while she was wearing a weed shirt haha.
Childress doesn't just have stray dogs and cats by the way. it has stray goats as well. ill attach a pic lol.
We have the cutest old dude we're teaching named Hector. he makes my little heart melt. he is spanish but speaks really good english! everything we talk about, like the atonement, he says "isn't that wonderful?" or "isn't that awesome?" in his cute lil raspy voice. we were teaching him on his porch when he randomly grabbed a stick and stuck it IN his ear abd said "sorry, my ears is itchy." haha. he also told us that he planted the flowers in his garden for the Lord and that made my entire life. see the attached picture for his "wonderful" garden. also when we asked him to pray, he said in his prayer "thank you jesus for being so so awesome!" it's true. jesus is awesome y'all.
There's this one podcast thing called "conversion of a Catholic" thats amazing and you should listen to it if you can find it!
Our mission is doing this challenge thing where we're reading the Boof of Mormon in 60 days. we all got a fresh cheap copy and we are going through and marking every time it refers to Christ, Christ is speaking, or uses one of Christ's names. OH MY LANTA i have been loving it. it is about 9 pages a day to finish in 60 days but i've been doing like 30 pages a day haha. i knew the Book of Mormon talked of Christ a lot, but man i had no idea. definitely put this on your bucket list to do haha. it has been incredible. Jesus is awesome!
