That's right! ya girl had a baptism this past weekend! haha I can't take any credit for it since i just got here. Her name is Kasey and she is so awesome! She got baptized by her father-in-law. His name is Clarke Cordner and he's related to the Cordners in Gilbert!
OK so i cant take any credit for those baptisms BUT my companion and I did get three people on date for baptism! The first one is Jaide. She is 17 and so dang strong! She has such a strong testimony and is an amazing example to me! She gets a tooon of crap from her family and friends. The next one is Savannah. She is 14 and also so sweet. The last one is Selena. We found her when we were looking for one of our potential investigators. She has a 2 year old boy that was running around with these blade things in his mouth and playing with them and it was stressing me the heck out. But anyways, she said she has really been wanting to come to a church and strengthen her relationship with God. We taught her the restoration that lesson. I asked her to be baptized on June 3rd and she said yes!
We've had so many miracles this week. My favorite one is when we finally got home to cook and eat dinner. I put some rice on the stove. about a minute after we got a text from Jaide saying she could meet with us right then. We couldn't pass up this opportunity to teach her without her friend there so we reluctantly took the rice off the stove and left. we taught her an awesome lesson. we kept joking about the rice though and how much of it we wasted :/ when we got back to the house though, the rice was FULLY COOKED. hahaha it had only been on heat for a minute before we left it. BLESSINS.
Another cool experience we had this week- we were praying about who we should see on Friday and we had the name of this dude, let's call him John, come to our minds. He is one of those "eternigators." He met with his first set of missionaries in 2003. He has not really progressed at all so we were kinda hesitant to go see him. But we did, and when we got there he was crying. He said he has a lot of stuff going on right now and eventually told us that the cops were there earlier using his apartment as a crime scene. This girl he met online is accusing him of raping her. So he said he hadn't slept since then and he'd just been praying and praying and praying when we showed up! We didn't teach him anything, but we just listened. He is reallllly being humbled right now and maybe this is our chance to try to take action. We taught him the next day just about praying and receiving answers. He says he has already prayed to know if the BOM is true and says that God told him no. So we're trying it again lol.
We also met this couple named Roman and Melinda. After our first lesson with them, I asked them to be baptized as well. They said yes! We just dont have a date. Theyre gonnna be out of town the next few weeks so we'll see when they get back.
OH BY THE WAY I'M IN CHILDRESS TEXAS! It's a small town of about 6,000 people. It is amazing. i love it here so so much. I flew into Lubbock last Monday. We stayed the night at the mission home. The next day, we drove 4 hours to Childress. Fun fact: the state of Utah can fit into my misison twice! So yeah. And our area is one of the bigger ones, becuase we cover a lot of small towns. So we do a TOON of driving. i'm carsick all the time haha.
I took a bunch of pictures BUT this computer at the library doesnt have an SD card slot thingy! so i'll have to go buy a converter. sorry y'all. we live in this cute little blue house. usually missionaries stay in apartments but there are slim pickins here in Childress.
My trainer is Sister Allart! She is from Indiana. She is awesome!!! Everyone was telling me how I got the best missionary in the TLM (Texas Lubbock Mission). She is very diligent and obedient and hardworking. I'm learning a ton! This is her last transfer before she goes home. The area before her and her comps got here was a "dead area." One sister said to Sister Allart that there was not one prepared soul in Childress. But considering the fact that I've been here less than a week and have already gotten 3 people on date proves otherwise. we teach sooo many lessons everyday and are nonstop working.
The members here are so amazing. they are so quick to help us and are missionary work oriented! i wish every branch/ward/member could be like that! and i wish i could say that i was back at home...yikes.
So um yeah sorry i dont have any pics. ill get them to y'all next week. but i do have this one my district and i when we said goodbye at the MTC! enjoy ~
ALSO write me letters!!
